Why Choose Teak Flooring
Burmese teak flooring is very durable, with the heartwood giving a uniform golden brown colour with little or no markings and a straight grain. The sapwood of teak is white to pale yellow.
Teak is a highly resistant wood that remains smooth under friction and teak flooring is tough and resistant to stains and spills. This is why teak is widely used and is considered one of the best hardwoods for flooring due to its long-lasting qualities. The density and high natural oil content of Burmese Teak also gives this wood a high degree of flexibility.
Burmese teak flooring has a very warm and natural honey brown colour, which will enhance and brighten your home or work place. With our Burmese teak flooring you get beauty and toughness together with a touch of luxury and unique style.
Overall teak is one of the most practical, resilient yet stylish woods on the market and teak flooring is one of most sort -after and elegant hardwood floors you have in your home or work place.
About Teak Flooring
The teak tree is a large, deciduous tree with leaves that have the texture of thin paper and a hairy surface underneath. The flowers of the teak tree are small and white with a very fragrant scent. Teak trees can grow up to 150 feet in height and can take up to 60 years to mature before they can be harvested for their wood.
Teak is the common name for the tropical hardwood tree species Tectona grandis and its wood products. Teak is mainly found in South and South East Asia, mostly India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Africa, the Caribbean and Burma, which accounts for nearly one third of the worlds total teak. Naturally Wood Floors uses Burmese teak for all of our teak flooring.
Teak is a close-grained hardwood with high natural oil and rubber content. It is one of the hardest, strongest and most durable of all timbers and is highly resistant to rot and the elements such as the sun, rain, frost or snow. This means that it does not split, crack or warp. These characteristics combine to make it the ideal timber for outdoor purposes such as ship and boat building, decking and rails, garden furniture, exterior joinery and structural work. Teak is often used in furniture and cabinetmaking and of course flooring.
Teak is extremely durable; it has natural water-resistant qualities and a striking wood grain.
