Engineered Floors
Engineered floors can be installed floating on underlay, secret nailed to existing timber floors or glued to concrete floors. Offering the benefit of sound reduction, underlays and most types of engineered floors are compatible with both electric and water under floor heating systems. With an extensive range available from 14mm 3 strip floors to 20mm structural engineered wide planks we are sure you will find something to suit your budget.
Our 14 & 15mm engineered floors are produced with a real wood top wear layer of 3-4mm, which is pressure glued to a centre core of spruce or hardwood and a backing layer of spruce. Our 20mm engineered floors have a 5-6mm top layer, pressure glued to 15mm plywood and offer the same wear layer of a solid T&G strip floor and greater stability. With approx 0.5-1mm of wood being removed during sanding approximately every 5-10 years, both types offer many years of life before replacement.
Solid T&G Strip
Solid T&G Strip floors can be secret nailed to joists/timber sub floors or glued to concrete sub floors. Widths exceeding 130mm should be face fixed if being installed to joists or secret nailed and glued with flexible adhesive. With a wear layer of 6-8mm these floors can be sanded approximately 10-12 times so offer many years of life. Many sports floors and dance floors are installed with 57mm or 83mm wide American White Oak or Canadian Maple which is secret nailed to foam backed battens/joists offering a semi sprung floor. Our saw mills in Europe offer solid T&G strip floors in widths from 57mm to 500mm and lengths up to 8M. Although some producers promote solid floors for use with under floor heating we don't recommend this as they can expand a lot in the summer and shrink in the winter months.
Solid T&G Wood Blocks
Solid T&G Wood Blocks can be glued to plywood or concrete sub floors with flexible adhesive. With a wear layer of 4-10mm these floors can be sanded approx 6-12 times so offer many years of life. They can be installed in herringbone, double herringbone or half bond designs. Used a lot in schools and churches we still restore wood block floors which were laid over 100 years ago. Available in 15 & 20mm thicknesses and standard sizes of 230x70mm, 280x70mm & 350x70mm we can produce solid T&G wood blocks in many different wood types. We often recommend solid T&G wood blocks when a client has a level concrete sub floor as they can be glued directly to the sub floor without the need of plywood.
End Grain Blocks
End Grain Blocks can be installed to plywood or concrete sub floors and are fully bonded with epoxy/PU 2 part adhesive. Offering extreme hardness, end grain blocks are the hardest wood floor type available suitable for shops and commercial premises. Our standard range is available in many different wood types and thicknesses from 18-50mm.
Mosaic Panels
Mosaic panels can be installed to plywood or concrete sub floors and are fully bonded with spirit based or Epoxy/PU adhesive. Felt back panels should be glued with Lecol 5500 adhesive or similar spirit based adhesive. Very popular in the 60's & 70's mosaic panels offer a very cost effective wood floor in an old fashioned design. Although the range of wood types has decreased over the years, we still supply a lot of mosaic panels for insurance claims and for clients who wish to extend existing floors into adjoining rooms in their homes.
Bespoke Parquet Designs
Bespoke parquet flooring is available in various designs in any combination of wood species and must be installed on a plywood sub floor, glued with Epoxy/PU 2 part adhesive and face pinned with tiny headless pins. Available in thicknesses from 6-10mm this type of flooring offers greater stability over all the other product types available. A very old method of flooring each piece of timber is glued and pinned to the sub floor and most can be used with some sound reduction products and water under floor heating systems.
Parquet Borders
Parquet borders are available in thicknesses from 6-10mm and in any design and combination of wood species. From a 10mm single line of a contrasting wood type to an intricate laser cut custom made border they will compliment and enhance your new wood floor. Our range of geometric borders and all produced and assembled by hand to ensure each piece is accurately placed in the correct position.
Parquet Motifs
Parquet motifs are available in thicknesses from 6-10mm and in various sizes and combination of wood species. There are 3 standard designs in with Wenge, oak & maple or Walnut, oak & Maple, which have been laser cut and hand assembled and will add that unique touch to your home and new wood floor. With the latest laser cutting machinery we are able to reproduce anything from a family crest to a company logo so please give us a call to discuss your requirements.
Aged & Distressed Floors
Here is a selection of all the various products we offer in an aged & distressed finish. This process can be applied to most wood types to create that lived in and worn look. Each piece of timber is tumbled in a large cylinder with sharp object and then hand finished to achieve a very authentic worn appearance. This appearance has proved very popular in shops, restaurants and also residential houses when clients require a practical floor which isn't going to show every dent and scratch from young children to pets.
We prefer to offer you the complete package from initial design advice through to installation and completion of your new wood floor. Some of our products are available for supply only but we would always recommend you employ a qualified floor specialist to carry out your installation and not just a carpenter or general builder, as we are not builders and builders are not floor layers. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Naturally Wood Floors provide wood floor installation in London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Kent, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire.
