Herringbone Engineered Floor, Woodford Green, Essex

For this stylish project in Essex, we installed our prefinished blocks to create a unique herringbone engineered floor for our client in Woodford Green.

We worked extensively with our client to develop the perfect finish to complement her elegant interior design scheme. Firstly, our Fusion Creations woodblocks in Prime Grade Fumed European Oak were lightly aged & distressed to create a feel of history and footfall. They were brushed to expose the natural grain and then coloured with a gentle Taupe to highlight the grain pattern – and finally finished with a UV cured oil.

The UV curing process offers a far greater level of protection than a traditional hardwax oil, whilst retaining a natural oiled look and feel. This hard-wearing type of finish is ideal for commercial settings and busy residential homes alike – as you can see, our client’s wonderful dog Pearl seems very happy with the floor!

Our Creations prefinished flooring is available in plank, woodblock and chevron designs, making the installation of a new floor much less time consuming and intrusive, as no sanding or finishing is required on site. We’ve selected 45 beautiful colours ranging from natural oaks, through whites and even deepest black, which you can see on our Creations page, whilst our bespoke flooring service allows us to create an individual and unique floor.

Oak Flooring, Drury Lane, London

We installed our Fusion engineered oak flooring in this exclusive development of residential apartments in Drury Lane – the very heart of London’s theatre land. The herringbone pattern throughout the project was created using square edged engineered wood blocks. Once installed, they were then carefully treated with a gentle white oil to tone down the vibrancy of the rustic grade European Oak – without taking away the natural colour variation and character of the timber.

We also installed our Fusion engineered plank floors to the staircases and surrounding areas, which were again finished on site to match the herringbone oak floor. Solid brass strips were inlaid into the engineered herringbone floor and around the ornately tiled area of the staircase landing and stair treads – to great effect.

Our 20mm thick Fusion flooring offers a full 6mm wear layer of solid oak – but is also available in other thickness plank, wood block and chevrons, allowing for varying site requirements.

Importantly, the floors were fully protected once our installation and finishing were completed. This allowed the remainder of works on site to progress without causing trauma or damage to the floor. Once all other works had been finalised, we returned to site to remove the protection and carry out full cleaning of the floors. We finally applied a coat of maintenance oil, ensuring they remained in pristine condition.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring, The Mill, London

We were awarded a contract to supply and install over 2500m² of prefinished engineered hardwood flooring from our Fusion range at The Mill’s new offices, just by Tottenham Court Road in the centre of London.

The Mill – based in Los Angeles, Chicago and London – are one of the world leading specialists in visual effects. Their new centre in London required engineered Oak flooring in a selection of bespoke surfaces for different areas, each textured and prefinished uniquely for the project.

Our team worked to create three quite different finishes for our Fusion Creations engineered oak floors to meet the brief, developing a floor with a wide, almost industrial-looking bandsawn surface texture which was “smoked” to enrich and darken the natural colour; another that had been heat treated to achieve a more intense deepening of the tones within the oak, then heavily sculpted to create an embossed texture; and a floor that had been deeply brushed to remove all of the softer grain of the timber, leaving a beautifully weathered surface texture.

All were then prefinished with a matt UV oil to provide long lasting protection with adding “gloss” to the floors.

Distressed Wood Floors, Epping, Essex

We recently installed distressed wood floors to several areas of this beautiful, elegant home in Epping, Essex. Although achieving quite different floors – two slightly different light-toned plank floors as well as a rich, warm herringbone floor – the finishes all had a distressed texture.

Distressed wood flooring is an excellent way to achieve the impression of age and footfall in an area where new flooring is being installed, to instantly give the impression of history and use. Additionally, any small scratches or dents that occur over time simply add to the floor’s texture, rather than detract from it.

For this project in Epping, Essex, our traditional parquet battens in Oak were treated to enrich and darken the colours of the oak, before being gently aged to replicate an old, worn floor. These were installed into the Hallway and Main Reception rooms, in a single herringbone pattern. Although much of the treatment and colouring of this oak parquet flooring was carried out by our in-house team before installation, it received its final finish on site.

Into other rooms, we installed prefinished engineered hardwood flooring from our Creations range – including our Chalcot, Chantry and Addington finishes. These plank floors were distressed and fully prefinished at our workshops, so were ready to walk upon as soon as installation was complete.

Oak Floors, Clifton Villas, London

We supplied and installed wide boarded oak floors from our Creations prefinished engineered flooring range, to three storeys of this prestigious residential building in Clifton Villas, London.

The boards were treated with a contemporary, bespoke finish to complement the simple elegance of the marble and white interior by our Essex-based craftsmen before being installed, which meant minimal impact without any sanding or finishing of the hardwood floors being required on site.

This bespoke finish was created especially for the project, with our own mixture of colours applied to the boards, before being finished with a subtle matt UV cured oil. This gave the timber an excellent level of protection – whilst keeping the finish as natural as possible.

The nosings, thresholds and other finessing details were also finished in the same natural matt UV oil, to ensure the crisp, clean design was maintained throughout.

The European Oak boards used for the project were 20mm thick and 220mm wide, ensuring a spacious, un-cluttered feel to the area. We offer our Fusion engineered oak flooring boards in both 20mm and 15mm thicknesses, and in widths from 140mm to 260mm to work perfectly in a variety of areas – and can offer 300mm plus widths for projects where exceptionally wide boards are required.

Engineered Oak Flooring, Neo Bankside, London

Working with Symm & Co, one of the UK’s premier building contractors, we completed the installation of 150m² of our Fusion Creations prefinished engineered oak flooring at an elite apartment within a new development – Neo Bankside – on London’s South Bank.

The project included a wonderful winter garden room at the apex of the building, which made the most of the fantastic view overlooking the Thames.

The colour, which showed a gentle hint of taupe, was created especially for the project by experts at our workshops, just outside London. The bespoke colour was applied to a highly selected, quarter sawn European Oak floor that had been lightly brushed to enhance the texture – and then finished with a very natural, flat, matt oil.

As the oak flooring for the project was fully prefinished before dispatch, the boards were ready to be walked upon as soon as they were installed, with no on-site sanding or finishing required.

Oak Hardwood Flooring, St James Theatre

The St James Theatre is a wonderful arts complex located in Palace Street, London, which features our Oak hardwood flooring in two quite different styles.

In the Carrara Restaurant, our Inception flooring in European Oak was selected, which was finished on site by our craftsmen. Visually stunning, our Inception End Grain flooring works particularly well with the beautiful marble staircase that leads to the restaurant.

End grain floors are exceptionally hard-wearing and perfect for busy restaurants and other areas with high foot traffic. The floor was then sanded and finished on site, after installation, with a hard-wearing commercial lacquer, to protect the timber. This particular cut of timber shows the growth rings of the tree, creating gorgeous spirals within the floor. This effect is quite subtle in smooth-sanded oak, as here – but can be quite striking when, for example, selecting a timber such as Larch, or our Aged & Distressed “Cobbles”, colour-treated to enrich the warmth of the timber – and finished with coloured oils.

In The Studio, our Fusion Creations engineered prefinished hardwood flooring with our Torres finish was installed, enhancing the warm, intimate feel to the area. We offer wooden flooring in a wide range of beautiful colours and textures, which are suitable for both commercial and residential projects.

Oak Parquet Flooring, Hampstead

Traditional parquet flooring was installed throughout this elegant house in Hampstead, London, with several areas using Oak in a variety of designs – in other areas a selection of timber species were installed. Once sanded, all of the floors were then finished with oil to protect the floors, whilst retaining a “natural” feel.

As you can see from the images, the long chevrons in Exquisite Grade Oak give a spacious, elegant feel to the bedrooms. A delicate inlay of Walnut defines the edge of the chevron pattern and the perimeter border of the room. This subtle feature border is carried through into the Master Bedroom, where Quarter Sawn Oak has been installed in Single Bretton Cross panels, with purpose-made sections of Oak installed to the curved corners of the room creating a unique and eye-catching radiant design to the border.

For the entertainment suite, the client selected dramatic Wenge, rich and dark, again in the form chevrons. Here, a contrasting inset border in Canadian Maple was used. For the gym area, warm toned Sucupira planks were chosen.

All of these floors were creating using our traditional Palladio parquet wood flooring, installed, sanded and finished by our highly trained and experienced teams. This style of flooring is exceptionally long lasting and very stable – and we are often called upon to sand and refinish old parquet flooring, restoring the natural beauty of the old timber.

Wooden Floor Restoration, Abbey Road Studios

With the high levels of foot traffic and movement of instruments and equipment that one might expect in Studios One and Two of the world-renowned Abbey Road Recording Studios in London, the original wooden floor was quite in need of restoration.

Our highly skilled and experienced Essex-based wooden floor restoration team carried out thorough sanding of the existing wood blocks, progressively through to a fine finish – to remove all traces of the old seal. We then applied an oil finish to protect the surface of the floor, whilst keeping the natural tones of the timber.

The studios have played host to the recording of some of the most famous names in music including Pink Floyd, U2, Take That, Stevie Wonder and Michael Bublé to name just a few. The famous “Abbey Road” Beatles album is, of course, named after the location, with the iconic cover photo taken on the crossing near to the studios.

We carry out the repair and restoration of hardwood floors throughout London and the Home Counties. Our specialist teams will sand and refinish precious flooring with high quality, long-lasting oils and lacquers to rejuvenate the old timber, restoring wooden floors to their former glory.

Parquet Wood Flooring, Loughton, Essex

At this elegant residential property in Loughton, Essex, we installed our traditional Palladio Parquet wood flooring in Rustic Grade European Oak. Each component within the floor was individually distressed to replicate an old, worn floor – creating a history and warmth to the areas. After installation, the floors were lightly screened and finished on site with an oil to protect the floor, whilst keeping the natural, honey-toned feel to the wood.

Versailles panels were selected for the Lounge area. This traditional wood flooring panel design is thought to have originated in the palace at Versailles in the late 17th Century, to replace the original marble floor. It remains as desirable today as ever, and we offer this design of floor not only in our traditional parquet, as seen here, but also in increasingly popular engineered hardwood flooring options (ideal for use over many types of modern sub-floors) – as well as our distinctive Legacy Antique floors.

In the adjoining Library, long chevrons were installed, creating a spacious and peaceful ambience, perfect for relaxing with a good book, surrounded by natural wooden flooring!

Rustic Wood Flooring, Innocent Building, London

Our Fusion wood flooring in Rustic grade European Oak was selected for the Innocent Building in London – the prestigious head office of Innocent Smoothies.

The engineered plank flooring selected was prefinished to our “Wilmington”. The rustic wood flooring was distressed to give the appearance of an aged floor, then put through a special treatment process to enrich and add depth of colour – and finally finished with an oil to protect the boards.

Aged and distressed floors are often ideal for use in busy commercial and business projects. Small signs of wear such as occasional scratches and dents simply add to the texture and history of the floor, rather than detract from it. This type of floor texture is, of course, just as perfect for busy homes. When required, these hardwood floors can be lightly screened and re-oiled to restore the lustre and finish, without the need for heavy sanding.

All of our Creations colours are available with an aged texture, which we apply with our own purpose-built machinery, to immediately add character to the floor – or with a bandsawn texture, which can lend a contemporary feel to a floor area.

Oak Floor, BrandOpus, London

Our Inception End Grain Oak floor was chosen for the elegant reception of the BrandOpus London offices in Stephen Street.

BrandOpus are leading specialists in brand design, with centres in London, New York and Melbourne. Working for prestigious and well-known companies such as Twinings, Kingsmill and Carling as well as many other household brand names, they create beautiful and eye-catching designs for many and varied products.

The floor in their London office needed to be equally beautiful – and as you can see in the images above, we inlaid a Fibonacci spiral created from brushed stainless steel leading from the elegant staircase, using precisely measured proportions. The oak end grain flooring was then sanded and finished on site, with a satin oil to protect and keep a natural lustre to the floor.

The raw timber for each Inception floor is sourced to order and slowly kiln dried to ensure an even moisture content, creating a strong and long-lasting, unique floor. The particular way the oak is harvested from the tree means that our Inception end grain floors are exceptionally hard wearing and are perfect for use in bustling areas with a high volume of foot traffic.

Available in Oak, Spruce, Larch and Pine, with each species showing beautiful and distinctive growth rings, creating visually stunning and individual floor designs.

European Oak Flooring, Red Bull London

At the London head offices of Red Bull, our European Oak flooring in a rustic grade engineered plank was installed to create a warm and characterful floor.

Our Fusion engineered floors are ideal for office and commercial spaces, particularly when prefinished with one of our Creations range of colours and textures. Here, our Lambourne finish was chosen, its rich colour and aged surface giving an inviting feel to the natural wooden flooring.

Lambourne is one of our most popular finishes, the enhanced natural colour variation of the timber highlighted by the colour processing – and the distressed surface combining perfectly with the selection of a rustic grade Oak and the natural oil applied to protect the floor.

Oak sleepers were used to continue the rustic and warm feel throughout the staircase areas.

Our Creations prefinished oak flooring offers a wealth of colours, from a completely natural oak, through warm browns, greys, whites and black, and even floors with metallic gold and silver within the grain.
