Terms & Conditions
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF TRADING
1. BASIS OF TERMS & CONDITIONS
Accepting our quotation you will be subject to these terms and conditions, which are preference to any of your own terms and conditions.
Quotation means a fixed price for works under that heading and governed by these terms and conditions and will be valid for 28 days.
Estimate means an approximation of the fixed price and would normally be subject to a site meeting or further information required to confirm a quotation.
2. MEASUREMENT
The prices quoted against measured or unmeasured areas, which are found to be greater or lesser after re-measurement shall be amended accordingly taking into account with the nature of work, materials and workmanship involved.
3. PAYMENT
Works will only commence on receipt of a deposit. The value will be confirmed in our quotation but generally will be 50 % of the order
value inclusive of VAT.
All deposits are non-refundable unless agreed and confirmed in writing by a company director. Should a refund be given it will be subject to
handling charges or any other charges incurred returning goods or canceling labour arrangements.
All balances are due for immediate payment on completion of works unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to commencement of works.
4. MATERIALS & DELIVERY
Materials are offered subject to availability.
Samples provided should only be used as general guidelines as wood is a natural product, which may vary in grade and colour. Materials are supplied in accordance with the grading rules applicable to the country of manufacture and supply.
Timber delivered to site must be stored securely in conditions similar to those in which the floor is to be permanently installed.
All goods will be insured until delivered at which stage they remain the responsibility of the client.
5. SITE CONDITIONS
1. Atmospheric conditions - The flooring must be stored, laid and maintained after installation in the same atmospheric conditions it will continue to exist in when the building is used. The relative humidity must be maintained between 45-65% RH to minimise movement and prevent the timber from becoming too dry.
2. Work area - All areas to be worked on are to be free from all other trades, materials, equipment and furniture. Any delays caused will be charged accordingly on an hourly basis per man of £ 40.00 / Hour + VAT.
3. Furniture – All area items of furniture must be removed prior to works commencing, as we accept no responsibility for any damage caused should we be required to move furniture you will be charged accordingly on an hourly basis per man of £ 40.00 / Hour + VAT.
4. Decorations - All decoration preparation works should be carried out prior to flooring works commencing. Wall Paper / finishing work should be carried out after the flooring is completely finished and dry and the floor has been protected. Naturally Wood Limited does not accept any responsibility for any damaged caused to finished decoration works during the completion of works.
6. RESTORATION WORKS
Any repairs required to an existing floor will be agreed prior to commencement and confirmed in our quotation. In the event of any unforeseeable repairs work will cease and a quotation will be provided for the additional works. On approval of our quotation work will commence. If you do not agree to our quotation we reserve the right to refund your money and may charge for any time spent on site and any materials used.
No guarantee is offered against expansion or contraction to all existing floors that are only restored by Naturally Wood Limited.
We cannot guarantee we will remove some stains in floors caused by previous water damage from a flood or liquid spilt onto the floor but will endeavour to restore the flooring to its original condition.
When supplying reclaimed/new timber to match an existing floor we will endeavour to source the same wood species and grain but its impossible to guarantee the same colour and grain characteristics.
7. MOISTURE, MOVEMENT & UNDER FLOOR HEATING
Wood flooring is subject to movement caused by the loss or uptake of moisture present and it is not entirely possible to prevent such movement although we will make every effort to minimise this natural propensity.
Timber will be supplied at between 8 and 12 % average moisture content.
Heating pipes can cause localised shrinkage, which should be left for a full 12 month period before any repairs are carried out which will be chargeable.
Under floor heating can cause problems with wood flooring. Naturally Wood Ltd must be informed of its existence and provided with any relevant technical information to ensure the floor can be installed and is installed in accordance with the manufactures conditions.
Under floor heating systems should be fully commissioned, tested and run for 2 weeks before a floor is installed. Room stats and floor probes should be installed to ensure the floor surface temperature never exceeds 26ºC. The water temperature in the pipes (flow rate) must never exceed 45ºC. Before and during installation the temperature should be turned down to 15 ºC and once the floor has been installed the temperature should be increased/decreased by 3ºC/day to minimise drastic changes in temperature which may cause shrinkage.
Movement tends to be less in narrower strips up to 70mm wide and more in wider strips over 100mm. Traditional parquet is thinner and glued and pinned, which minimises most expansion and contraction and moves less than20mm T&G blocks or strip. It is normal for joints to open and close with the changing seasons.
8. OVERRUNS
Naturally Wood Ltd should be advised in writing prior to acceptance of quotation of any costs due to failure to commence or complete works on or by a specific date. We reserve the right to reschedule dates in the event of a job overrunning and will advise you at least 24 hours in advance.
9. GUARANTEE
Defects due to faulty materials supplied by Naturally Wood Ltd or workmanship will be corrected free of charge within a 12 month period from the date of completion. No guarantee is given against materials supplied by others and installed only by Naturally Wood Ltd.
No guarantee is offered against expansion or contraction where the timber has been supplied and or installed to the correct moisture content and site conditions.
No guarantee is given against the life of the applied finishes as general wear and tear and maintenance are beyond the control of Naturally Wood Limited.
All guarantees are invalid where sums due remain outstanding.
